Balor cornered Rush, straight away and knocked off Lashley off the apron. With the behemoth out of the action, it was just a matter of moments that Rush digested a drop-kick followed by a Coup De Grace. This earned Finn Balor the pinfall win as well as his first Intercontinental Championship. Bobby Lashley was furious on this outcome of the match. So he gave a vicious spinebuster to his hypeman before walking out of Elimination Chamber.

Finn Balor landed straight into the mid-card title picture following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. He was in the Universal Championship picture challenging Brock Lesnar for the title. But a beatdown handed him a squash loss after which the Intercontinental Championship was the next target. WWE set an interesting lineup for the match, though.

It was a two-on-one handicap match where Finn Balor took on against Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush. The additional stipulation was that if any one of these two loses then we would crown a new Intercontinental Champion. It was a fair and square advantage given to the challenger in a situation where numbers game not in his favor.

Bobby Lashley needed a fresh opponent after going over with the rivalry with Seth Rollins. Finn Balor took that place in the mid-card title picture and also secured the title. The speculation is that he will be staying here until Wrestlemania 35. The Fastlane PPV has already started advertising a rematch between these two participants from Elimination Chamber.
