WWE Extreme Rules 2021 is scheduled to be hosted, later this month as the next WWE specials following the 34th edition of Summerslam. No matches for the upcoming PPV have been announced from either Raw or Smackdown while there are plans to host some big-time matches for this popular gimmick-bases show.

As seen on this week’s episode of RAW, Team R-K-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) defeated WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and MVP in the main event to retain the RAW Tag Team Championship. Once the match was over, Lashley hit Riddle with a Spear and was intending to apply the Hurt Lock on him, but Orton laid the champion out with an RKO.

This could have been an indication of things to come in the coming weeks. According to the Wrestling Observer, Bobby Lashley vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship is planned for WWE Extreme Rules 2021 pay-per-view. This will be an interesting and fresh offering for the audience for the coming event. It’s likely that Lashley would still be the reigning champion after the PPV.

Roman Reigns will defend at WWE Extreme Rules 2021

From Smackdown, WWE is saving Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar for the main event of WWE Crown Jewel 2021 pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia in October. Extreme Rules 2021 will take place on September 26 that is before the Saudi event. On that night, Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Championship against Finn Balor.

But before that, these two have collided over the title on this week’s Smackdown. While there’s no update on the feud, chances are high that The Tribal Chief’s retention will only escalate the ongoing program so that a stipulated match could culminate at WWE Extreme Rules 2021. Roman Reigns has already completed a full year as the champion who won’t be dropping the belt anytime soon.

The only match officially announced for WWE Extreme Rules is Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. This is going to be a rematch for the title after Lynch snatched the title from Belair at Summerslam in just 26 seconds. Belair then captured the challenger’s spot by winning a Fatal-4-Way elimination match also featuring Liv Morgan, Carmella, and Zelina Vega.
