He got caught in a simple roll-up to come up short. This led the younger McMahon to go irate on his buddy who unleashed an attack on his partner. Shane McMahon and The Miz won the Smackdown tag team championships back ta Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. It was one of the shockers since the newly formed team dethroned The Bar from their reign. It was a great accomplishment for the ‘best in the world’ tag team to defeat the veterans in their first outing. However, the long-term plans were much different for these two as per the ongoing rumors. They were actually eyeing a one-on-one Wrestlemania match.

This is why they lost the tag team championships at Elimination Chamber against The Usos. The Miz was the one to come up short after getting caught in a simple roll-up. He apologized to Shane McMahon about this and wanted a rematch at WWE Fastlane. So the head-honcho arranged the match despite there’s no automatic rematch clause being present in WWE.

Going by the speculations, it was just to plant the seeds between Shane McMahon and The Miz for their Wrestlemania match. So the challengers were not favorite anyway heading into the Fastlane championship match. Also, The Usos deserved to go into the biggest event of the year as the tag team champions for the first time ever after spending all these years in WWE.
