WWE Fastlane 2021: A Major Rubber Match Is In Works

Going by the earlier reports, Drew McIntyre was set to compete against The Miz at Fastlane 2021 in a match with WrestleMania implications written all over it. The winner of that match would go on to face the WWE Champion Bobby Lashley for the title at the Show of Shows. But things did change on this week’s Raw as it now seems that this match for the upcoming PPV has been changed.

On this week’s Raw, The Miz has already received his WWE Title rematch against Bobby Lashley. The All-Mighty decimated him with a huge Spinebuster followed by The Full Nelson – Hurt Lock submission maneuver to pick up the win and retain. Thus, the Hollywood A-lister was sent of the WWE title picture, at least for WrestleMania 37, and won’t be part of Fastlane 2021.

It is now being assumed that Drew McIntyre will now face Sheamus in a number-one contender’s match at Fastlane 2021 instead of The Miz. The personal feud between the two former friends has been ongoing on Raw and a proper culmination is needed for the angle. The Scottish Warrior is eyeing Lashley and his WWE Title but he needs to put away the Celtic Warrior, first.

A rematch expected at Fastlane 2021

As seen on Raw, Drew McIntyre competed in a rematch against Sheamus under the No Disqualification stipulation. Both the participants charged in with steel steps and in the process took each other out. McIntyre went over the barricade, while Sheamus went down at ringside before the referee declared that neither one of them are ready to continue.

This has already set up the stage for a rubber match which is waiting at Fastlane 2021 with the winner going to headline WrestleMania 37 with the All-Mighty Bobby Lashley. Plus, the two have already hinted that there’s an unfinished business.

Sheamus took to Twitter after the match and showed the brutal scars on his back he suffered after that brutal No-DQ affair. McIntyre replied to the photo with his own bruised back that was gifted by the battle. But neither one of them would go down without a singles fight with a proper outcome and the March PPV could be an option for them to engage in another fight.

WWE Fastlane 2021 will take place on March 21 from the ThunderDome at the Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay, Florida. To date, WWE has confirmed only two matches for the final PPV before WrestleMania 37
