One of the premium live events announced for the fall is Fastlane 2023 which is returning after a gap of a couple of years. In general, this event has often paved the way for the biggest event of the year, namely Wrestlemania. But WWE has now inserted the show into an unusual timeslot of October.

With almost a month remaining for Fastlane 2023, WWE has reportedly moved more than 10,000 tickets for the PLE. This occurred despite the fact that Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will be missing from it. The absence doesn’t come as a full-fledged surprise as he only works in a limited schedule in the WWE and it makes sense as he went into a hiatus following Summerslam.

In his absence, John Cena is acting as the poster figure of the company for the time being and it appears that he will be appearing at Fastlane 2023. PWInsider is the source to inform us that John Cena is expected to appear not only at Payback but also at the Fastlane pay-per-view in October. Nothing much regarding the appearance was revealed by the source.

WWE Fastlane 2023 is scheduled for next month

It was in mid-June that the WWE Fastlane 2023 Premium Live Event was announced on the official website of the WWE. The announcement came for the very first time during an edition of The Pat McAfee Show. Roman Reigns’ Special Counsel Paul Heyman was a guest on the show on that June 20 episode and the two revealed the info in a discussion.

With that, the return of the PLE that originally found its way to WWE programming in the mid-2010s was announced before WWE held a Saudi Arabia event in late October and then the Survivor Series in late November.

John Cena’s name will certainly drive a lot of interest for Fastlane 2023. The sudden announcement of the 16-time world champion didn’t really help out to move tickets for Payback but things will be different for the next PPV scheduled from Indianapolis.

For the time being, John Cena is scheduled to appear on WWE programming through late October which also signifies that Fastlane 2023 may not be his final PLE appearance of the season. WWE generally needs bigger names for their Saudi show and he could be involved in the card.
