Earlier this year, WWE King and Queen of the Ring tournaments were highly touted to be returning for the recently bygone premium live event in Saudi Arabia. Eventually, that plan was scrapped as the event was renamed and both the tourneys were scrapped. Now, the question is whether WWE still has plans to get those happened, once again, later this year.

Some of the fans were disappointed with the way WWE King and Queen of the Ring were canceled on such short notice. In an update from Fightful Select, sources in WWE said that they didn’t hear any updates of the return of the two tournaments being rescheduled as of yet.

WWE King And Queen Of The Ring: Will PLE Return In Late 2023? 1

The only good thing is that WWE King and Queen of the Ring was mentioned as something that the creative team does have on their list for a future show in Saudi Arabia. The next such show in Saudi could go down in the fall, that’s in either late October or early November. Probably, the old-school tournaments could go down in that PLE which is yet to be confirmed.

It remains unclear at this point is and when WWE King and Queen of the Ring will be back but the two tournaments are considered to be a “back pocket” attraction for future shows in Saudi Arabia. Eventually, the latest bygone iteration of these two tourneys also took place in October 2021 where WWE crowned Xavier Woods as King of the Ring while Zelina Vega became the inaugural Queen’s Crown winner at the Crown Jewel 2021 PLE. There is no word on when the next WWE PLE in Saudi Arabia will be taking place.

Originally, talk of the WWE King and Queen of the Ring tournaments began back in November of last year when it was reported that WWE was considering bringing back the infamous King of the Ring event as a separate PLE after 20 years of wait.

In March, it was also confirmed that WWE King and Queen of the Ring would take place in May. Also, it was mentioned how this was the first time that a woman would be crowned Queen of the Ring since the 2021 winner Zelina Vega was named to be the Queen’s Crown Tournament winner. Eventually, nothing came to fruition after the event was renamed to Night of Champions.
