WWE Rumour: Brock Lesnar Will Not Defend Universal Championship at Royal Rumble

Brock Lesnar had a match at the Survivor Series PPV against AJ Styles. It was the particular event of the year where the Raw brand goes head-to-head against the Smackdown brand.

So, the prime champion from one show locked horns against the other one culminating a dream match for the fans. Being the dominant champion, the Universal Champion picked up the win via an F-5.

The Phenomenal One fought valiantly against his opponent. However, that could not stop him from getting conquered after entering the suplex city. In the match, Brock Lesnar might have suffered an injury, as per the earlier reports. The WWE Champion got locked in the Calf Crusher to hurt his knee, legit.

We don’t know for sure whether the injury was for real or not. But, it not supposed to hamper his schedule considering that the prime champion on Raw will remain out of action until 2018 kicks off. With the Royal Rumble season getting started, the Conqueror is supposed to be back to defend his title.

However, a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter hinted the beast incarnate might not even defend his title at the first PPV of 2018. The reason behind this decision is a valiant name being absent on the flagship show for challenging the reigning champion. Check out the particular reasons owing to which Brock Lesnar might not have to put his title on the line (courtesy SportsKeeda.com)

a) The way the WWE is booking Braun Strowman, he’s not on another collision course with Lesnar.
b) Roman Reigns is still set to face Lesnar at WrestleMania, and that plan hasn’t changed.
c) Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins are still set to be a tag team potentially through to WrestleMania.
d) Having Bray Wyatt face Lesnar would be “a complete waste.”

Previously, Finn Balor was supposed to be Lesnar’s opponent at the Royal Rumble. His name got cancelled since the officials do not think that he does not have enough potential to challenge the most dominant performer present in the WWE. Kane and Strowman competed in a number one contender’s match, as well which did not bring any outcome, as well. The situation is likely to get clear at the beginning of next year.
