After Triple H made his return to WWE Raw, last week, the anticipation for this week’s episode was much bigger. We were scheduled to hear the condition of Seth Rollins after suffering that brutal attack from Samoa Joe, Triple H’s new poster boy. Plus, Goldberg was scheduled to address the challenge made by Brock Lesnar at the grandest stage of Wrestlemania. Here’s what went down at the episode that took place at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
Samoa Joe signed WWE Raw contract
Footages are shown during the opening segment of the show of Samoa Joe destroying Seth Rollins, last week. We headed towards the ring as Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley introduced us to the newest member of WWE Raw, Samoa Joe. Joe cut a heel promo before getting interrupted by Roman Reigns who came out in a decent reception. The Big Dog said that Joe is standing in his yard. This led to a face-off between the two and Foley made the main event of the night between the two of them.
Bayley vs. Nia Jax
Bayley was on the verge of getting a count-out win on Nia but Charlotte came out running to the ring to distract the referee stopping the count. Bayley put her down with a dropkick but that allowed Nia to recover and put Bayley down with a Samoan Drop and pick up the win. Next week, we will be getting a championship match between Charlotte and Bayley.
Braun Strowman competed in a 4-on-1 handicap match
This was another squash match in favor of the mountain among men. He picked up the win via the running power slam. After the match, he went to the WWE Raw GM to ask for a real competition. Foley booked Reigns vs. Strowman at WWE Fastlane. Strowman was pleased enough to hear it.
Drew Gulak vs. Akira Tozawa
This was incredible athlete Tozawa’s debut on WWE Raw and he put up a fight with some high-offensive moves. He picked up the win with a snap German suplex following it with a bridge. After the match, Bryan Kendrick interrupted his celebration to set up for an upcoming feud.
Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho talked about Wrestlemania 33
The two of the best friends were talking about main eventing Wrestlemania 33. Jericho came up with Owens giving him a Universal title shot which will be the greatest ever main event at Wrestlemania. Goldberg’s music hit and he came down to the ring. He faced both of them telling that KO is going to be the next because he wants a title shot at Fastlane. The Myth also accepted the challenge made by Lesnar, last week before leaving the ring.
Cesaro and Sheamus vs. Anderson and Gallows (Raw tag team championship)
Enzo and Cass were present at the ringside since they will challenge the winners of this match. Sheamus and Cesaro were in the driver’s seat when Gallows hit Enzo with a super-kick. Big Cass fired up and connected with a big boot to him creating the disqualification. Cesaro and Sheamus were not pleased with Enzo-Cass after this outcome.
The Shining Stars vs. The New Day
Prior to this match, the announcers said that Rollins has suffered a torn MCL and his Wrestlemania future is in jeopardy. The New Day made their way to the ring to have a match with the Shining Stars. It was a short match up as they hit the Midnight Hour to pick up the win.
Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn (United States championship match)
This match was made after Zayn gained the pinfall to Jericho, last week. Owens was present at the ringside to assist Jericho. He proved effective after creating a distraction and hitting with a superkick to Zayn. Jericho then hit the Codebreaker to retain his title on WWE Raw.
Neville, Noam Dar, and Tony Nese vs. Cedric Alexander, Jack Gallagher, and TJ Perkins
A brawl broke out inside the ring before this six-man tag team match took place with everyone wanting to get a shot at the Cruiserweight title. The babyfaces picked up the win after Alexander connected with a lumber check to Nese. There was almost a zero reaction from the crowd during this segment.
Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe
This match was never officially started since Samoa attacked Reigns from behind during his entrance. He delivered another brutal attack to prove himself the destroyer. Upon getting into the ring the referee asked if Reigns is able to start the match. The match started but Strowman came down to distract Reigns. Samoa caught him with an Enzuguiri following it up with a vicious power slam to pick up the win. After the match, Strowman beat down Reigns to close WWE Raw for this week.
