Builds for Money in the Bank 2022 has already been kicked off with this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Now it will continue through the coming episode of Smackdown s we expect to receive a pair of male and female participants for the MITB ladder matches for this year’s edition.
WWE has announced two Money In The Bank 2022 qualifying matches for tonight’s episode of SmackDown. Drew McIntyre is set to face Sheamus in a men’s division qualifying match while Lacey Evans is set to face Xia Li in a women’s qualifying match.
Roman Reigns Not Scheduled For WWE Money In The Bank 2022
The rivalry between McIntyre and Sheamus is well-documented in WWE programming as these two UK natives had previously battled over the WWE Championship. But this would their first singles encounter, this year.
Lacey Evans getting Money in the Bank 2022 opportunity during her in-ring return
As for Lacey Evans, tonight’s match will be her first match in more than a year. She has recently come back from maternity leave following the Wrestlemania 38 season. She gave birth last October to her second daughter. Originally, the plans for her called for an in-ring return on the Memorial Day edition of Raw but WWE sent her instead to the Coca-Cola 600 race as the Grand Marshall. Now, she’s coming back and will compete for an opportunity to go into Money in the Bank 2022.
Her opponent, Xia Li was touted as a strong babyface during her main roster debut, earlier this year. However, she has wrestled only in one TV match since then which was a win over Natalya. It’ll be interesting to see whether her protector status will be kept intact on Smackdown.

Money in the Bank 2022 takes place on Saturday, July 2nd at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was originally announced from the Allegiant Stadium but it has been shifted in due course. Last year, the event took place in Fort Worth, Texas. The winner of the Men’s Money In The Bank was Big E and the Women’s Money In The Bank winner was Nikki A.S.H.
