Money in the Bank 2023 was a loaded show that came with a stacked card and multiple surprise returns. There were multiple championship matches on the show and one of them ended up seeing a title change after the champions failed to be on the same page. One of the women’s tag champs shockingly turned on each other to kick off a fresh feud and thereby tease a match at Summerslam, next month.

In the second match of Money in the Bank 2023 premium live event, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defeated Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler (c) to win the Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Championship Match in a surprising outcome. The new champions were crowned after Shayna turned on Ronda during the match and attacked her from behind.

In a shocking moment, the former NXT Women’s Champion applied Kirifuda Clutch on Rousey to leave her lying in the ring. Shayna walked out of the match at Money in the Bank 2023, leaving Ronda alone in the ring. Rodriguez tagged in and slammed an unconscious Rousey into the mat with her Texana Bomb finisher after which Morgan made the tag, and connected with an Oblivion finisher to win the titles on behalf of her team.

With this win at Money in the Bank 2023, the team of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez has now become two-time champions. Liv has also become a three-time women’s tag champ in the WWE to catch up with Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks. Apart from two wins with Rodriguez, she previously won the tag title belts with Rhea Ripley.

Since Ronda Rousey’s comeback to WWE programming in early May, the team of Ronda and Shayna has been on a rampage. The two previously won a Wrestlemania Women’s Showcase match. Then they clinched a win in another Fatal-4-Way for the vacant Women’s Tag Team Championships in late May.

Shortly before Money in the Bank 2023, the duo successfully unified their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles with the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. The expectation was that these two will eventually go on to have a lengthy title run. But now a singles feud between them will be happening, next. Ronda vs. Shayna in a singles contest should be on the lineup at Summerslam, next month.
