The unthinkable finally happened at Money in the Bank 2023 where Roman Reigns not only lost a match but also got pinned to suffer the loss. For the first time since late 2019, The Head of the Table had gone through this experience which makes us believe that there would be greater consequences to The Bloodline storyline, moving forward.
As seen in the main event of Money in the Bank 2023 which was also dubbed as The Bloodline Civil War, The Usos defeated Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. As noted, it was Roman who got pinned by Jey Uso in the end.

The finish of the match saw, The Usos taking out both Reigns and Sikoa with a series of stereo superkicks. Jey then ascended to the top rope and came off with a Frogsplash on Roman for the decisive pinfall win.
After the match, Jimmy Uso wanted to make a truce with Roman but Jey stopped him. The Usos eventually left the ring as a lone Roman sat by the ringside to send Money in the Bank 2023 off the air.

Thus, Roman suffered his first pinfall loss in three and a half years. The last time he was pinned was at the hands of Baron Corbin at the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs premium live event in December 2019. Moving on, Roman has been part of losing experience in random other tag team matches since 2019, but he has never been the one to be pinned.
One more significance to his pinfall loss from Money in the Bank 2023 is that Jey Usos is the one to pin him. Ironically, it was Jey who was the first victim of Roman’s Tribal Chief persona which started to shape up from 2020 onward after he won the Universal Championship in August of that year. That move also began The Bloodline storyline which eventually became the greatest angle of professional wrestling in the modern era.

Jimmy not getting back with Roman at Money in the Bank 2023 also has significance since these two are within a feud for the past couple of months and they’re likely to be involved in a match over the undisputed WWE universal title. If rumors are to be believed then Roman vs. Jimmy should take place at Summerslam.
