Wrestlemania has always been a home for dream matches, over the years. We would not be surprised if another one gets added to the list once the next edition goes down on April 7th. As seen on last night’s Smackdown, we’ve seen a challenge laid down from the ‘face that runs this place’ to the Apex Predator of the WWE. Now the ball is in the court of the latter one which would confirm this monumental match that the WWE Universe is looking forward to seeing for a long time.
Shane Mcmahon confirms his Wrestlemania match
Farewell match announced for Wrestlemania
AJ Styles and Randy Orton have been featuring in short segments for the last couple of weeks on Smackdown. Last night they finally decided to come face-to-face inside the ring to discuss the matter brewing between them. Randy Orton was the first one to arrive in the ring protesting about the fact that he fans call this place as ‘the house that AJ Styles built’. If we go through the career of the duo then Smackdown should be the house of Randy Orton.
The Viper took us back in the past where he started his career in 2002 in the WWE. AJ Styles was wrestling in some indie shows back then for $10. With two years of time, he became the youngest world champion of WWE while AJ was still competing in some bingo halls. In the following years, Randy Orton was building his legacy as the 13-time world heavyweight champion while AJ was working for Dixie Carter. (Former owner of TNA Impact Wrestling)
AJ Styles has heard enough of this promo and decided to come out to his house. In the midst of tremendous cheers from the crowd, The Phenomenal One issued a challenge to Randy Orton at Wrestlemania 35. The latter one did not accept it and decided to leave the ring on Smackdown without saying a word. It would be a show-stealing match on the Grandest Stage of Them All only if The Viper accepts.
WWE Universe expected to see Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles for a long time since it’s a dream match. These are the two genuine best athletes in their generation that deserves to share the ring. This is why the creative team of the WWE protected these two from sharing the ring until a big event appears. With Wrestlemania 35 coming up within, four weeks, it’s only fitting to start a storyline between them to culminate this match.
Previously, AJ Styles and Randy Orton did meet inside the ring on two occasions. The first time it happened was in 2017 when Orton defeated Styles to secure his spot at the WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania 33. The next time it happened earlier this year prior to Elimination Chamber. It was just a short encounter within a Gauntlet match that Orton won after delivering a sudden RKO from behind. Now, we expect these two to deliver a full-fledged feud between them that would live up to the term, dream feud.
