WWE News: Al-Qaeda Threatened Saudi Arabia Prince for Hosting GRR 1

Saudi Arabia hosted the Greatest Royal Rumble event on April 27th. It was a revolutionary step from the country’s perspective. We do know there are numerous concerns when it comes to hosting events in this particular country. There are some significant barriers to sports or entertainment.

Women could not attend any sports or wrestling shows, nor they could participate in it. The tradition is slowly changing, as Saudi Arabia rulers took the initiative to improve the entire perspective of the country moving forward. Hosting the GRR show was such an initiative in this movement.

But one of the anti-social groups did not take it lightly. The Independent reported the Saudi Arabia prince received a threat from Al-Qaeda. They sounded their unhappiness on reopening the country’s movie theatres. Also, they disliked the fact that Jeddah hosted the Greatest Royal Rumble event.

The group mentioned the fact that women featured in an accidental ad during the event. We did see an add for the Backlash PPV featuring both the brand superstars including the female talents. The organisers apologised for this later.

Plus the group also expressed its disappointment with the entire event,

“[Foreign] disbelieving wrestlers exposed their privates and on most of them was the sign of the cross, in front of a mixed gathering of young Muslim men and women.”

We have not seen any private part exposed during the show in Saudi Arabia. But there was an instance when a superstar used the cross sign during a match.

It happened in the opening contest between John Cena and Triple H. The Game displayed the famous DX ‘suck it’ Crotch Chop sign. A cross teasing is a capital offence in Saudi Arabia. But, this time it happened lightly.

Al-Qaeda continued with the following statement to the Saudi Arabia prince,

“The corruptors did not stop at that, for every night musical concerts are being announced, as well as movies and circus shows.”

We hope this will not demolish the partnership between the country and WWE. They signed a contract for numerous such upcoming events. Hopefully, all of those will peacefully take place in the future.
