In an unfortunate turn of events former WWE Superstar, Alberto Del Rio got brutally assaulted in a restaurant. He got injured in his head and his hands as seen in his in his Instagram post. He was finishing his dinner in the restaurant in Mexico when the criminals showed up to stab him from the back.
He was supposed to attend the Lucha Underground mega event’s main event aftermath. But that got cancelled due to the incident. Del Rio released a picture along with an official statement on the incident.
“Mr. Rodriguez (“Alberto El Patron”) shortly after eating a meal before his flight was assaulted by a criminal with a knife outside the restaurant. Mr. Rodriguez suffered multiple lacerations on his arm and other parts of his body defending against the criminal as Police were called by witnesses. Mr. Rodriguez received medical attention and went back to the Police Department and was unable to make his flight. Mr. Rodriguez has spoken with the ownership of Lucha Libre AAA World Wide and given them documentation of the incident. Mr. Rodriguez greatly regrets not being there yesterday for his fans in Mexico and promises to everyone he will make this up as soon as possible. Despite the graphic lacerations Mr. Rodriguez will not miss any of his shows for the remainder of the year and is ready to compete this weekend in the UK. “
After his contract with WWE got over, Del Rio joined the Lucha Underground. He was scheduled in the main event of Heroes Immortales. But, he did not show up that night and the show hosts were seemingly frustrated. However, they were not aware of Del Rio’s health conditions. They even released a statement for his unprofessional behavior. But, now they have been submitted with all the papers and prove of that incident, they are likely to issue an apology statement.
We wish Del Rio a speedy recovery so that he can return to in-ring action as early as possible. He himself said in the statement that he will compete in the upcoming UK tour of the AAA promotion.
