Asuka has been one dominant performer ever since entering the WWE NXT scene. She has been holding the NXT Women’s title ever since Bayley dropped it, last year. Starting from the NXT Takeover: Dallas, The Empress of Tomorrow is ruling the female division of NXT locker room with the title in hand.
In recent times, she broke the record of Goldberg for being undefeated in 173 days during his tenure as the WCW franchise. Asuka is still undefeated as the Women’s champion and surpassed the record by a big margin. Plus, she has also overtaken the record of CM Punk who has held the WWE championship for a record 434 days.
In combined, Asuka is holding the NXT Championship for 453 days which has already made her the longest reigning champion in the modern era of the WWE. This crown belonged to Punk, earlier.
In addition, she has also broken the record of Trish Stratus who has held the Women’s Championship for 448 days in 2005-06. This reign used to be third longest title reign in the history of women’s wrestling. But, the third place now belongs to Asuka.
The way she is continuing with the title, she might not lose it at least until this year’s Summerslam. If that turns out to be the case then she is also set to break the second longest reign of the Rockin’ Robin (502 days). Various speculations suggest that WWE is not stripping her of the title in order to keep her just behind Fabulous Moolah who tops the list.
Check out the first 4 women with longest title reigns, here:
The Fabulous Moolah – 10,170 days
Rockin’ Robin – 502 days
Asuka – 453 days
Trish Stratus – 448 days
It is unlikely that in the modern era, somebody will break the record of Moolah, someday. It was created in the time span of 1956 to 1984 where there were no competitions among the women at all.
Asuka might lose the NXT Women’s title once Summerslam is over after shattering almost every record. Once she is done with the developmental brand, she might be called to the main roster, as soon as possible.
