By the end of every year, we get a list of the top 50 male and female wrestlers published by PWI (Pro-wrestling illustrated). It is considered to be an elite list prepared by one of the topmost American Wrestling Magazine who also gives us insider scoops from the pro-wrestling industry.
Starting its journey in the year of 1972 the magazine had served to the wrestling industry to a bigger extent. This particular media house has maintained its connection to the kayfabe news while most of the sources try to bring out the reality of the TV storylines.
In 1991, PWI had published the first list comprising of 500 top wrestlers in the world. Later, they started the tradition of making a list of top 50 wrestlers on a yearly basis. The list for the female superstars is out for this season and none, but Asuka has topped it for 2017.
This is quite obvious considering the booking that the Empress of Tomorrow has been received ever since debuting in the WWE. Till date, she is undefeated in the squared circle. Considering that she has just debuted on the main roster of the WWE, this dominant run should continue for the NXT Women’s champion whose run continued for 523 days which is more than anybody in the modern era.
Asuka toppled Charlotte Flair who was on top, last year while achieving the honor. The Queen has slipped to the second place, whereas, Alexa Bliss had a jump to the third spot overtaking Sasha Banks who has been placed in the fourth spot. Check out the full list, here (courtesy diva-dirt.com)

Former Smackdown Women’s champion, Natalya has also managed to secure a spot in the top 10 by virtue of her title run even in this age.
Apart from the names from WWE, there are plenty of other female superstars from the independent circuit that managed to earn their spots by working hard and matchup to the level of the male athletes.
