WWE News: Batista Being Considered for WWE Hall of Fame 2018 1

It has now become a tradition to host the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony before every year’s Wrestlemania. The event is organized a night before the biggest event of the year to honor some of the who’s who of the pro-wrestling world. The former WWE veterans alongside the current roster superstars appear on the show to make it more prestigious.

The name who would headline the show is named three months earlier the Hall of Fame that is in January. Just before the Royal Rumble PPV, WWE let us know about the man who would be the first ballad Hall of Famer before the Wrestlemania event. This year, it was the returning Kurt Angle, whereas, reports are filing in about the next one, in line.

According to the reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the six-time world champion, Batista is going to headline this year’s show. The Animal has been a veteran name in the squared circle for his career in the WWE. Apart from the world title reigns, he’s also been a multi-time tag team champion and some iconic rivalries with the other WWE legends.

The name comes as quite a bit of surprise since The Undertaker was the first name who was being considered to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, this year. At the last edition of Mania, he was the one who was retired by Roman Reigns. So, it was quite obvious to induct him into the elite club like Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair or Edge. But, it looks like the man who main event Wrestlemania from Superdome in 2014 will return to the city NOLA, next year, again.

Recently, Batista spoke with Uproxx.com where he opened up about how his in-ring name was born despite him insisting on performing under his name of Dave Bautista. These are the quotes,

“I didn’t realise they changed the spelling of it. Well, I was told the reason they did that was so people would be able to pronounce it easier, and then I was told later by another wrestler, he said, “No, you dummy. They did that so they could own it. They just can’t own your name. They changed the spelling; now they own it.” Which was true. I left WWE without my wrestling name, went back to my real name, and started over.”
