“It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the role Kurt Angle currently fits into was originally supposed to go to The Rock. This match would have recreated their WrestleMania 31 confrontation and completed that storyline. However, Dwayne Johnson has a lot of money in his name, and movie studios have a ton riding on his health.”
Eventually, The Rock also let knew the officials he can’t make it back to in-ring capacity for a match. It is why Batista was a smart replacement in this matchup. Previously, he also wanted to work with The Game in a storyline. This angle seemed perfect for him while making a return.
However, as reported by the source, Batista turned down the offer. The creative team asked him about the offer when he came up with a No answer. After this, Kurt Angle took his spot in the match.
It was always a high-profile match at the grandest stage of them all. So, it’s quite odd to know why the former world champion did not like the offer.
