WWE News: Beth Phoenix Revealed Her Favorite Superstar to Win Royal Rumble 1

The speculations of WWE hosting a women’s Royal Rumble match was there up on the rumour mill for a long time now. The company is continually working hard to demolish the barrier between the male and female division by letting the women superstars competing in numerous gimmick matches such as Hell in a Cell, Tables, Falls Count Anywhere, No Disqualification and more over the last span of years.

So, finally, Stephanie McMahon confirmed the women’s Royal Rumble match on the December 18th episode of Monday Night Raw. For the first time, multiple women will compete in an over the top rope battle royal to earn an opportunity of a championship match. The winner will get an opportunity to challenge either Raw or Smackdown women’s championship at Wrestlemania.

This announcement led the entire pro-wrestling universe going ga-ga over it, as they let their emotions know via the social media websites. Beth Phoenix was amongst those handfuls of names who had the opportunity to enter the men’s Royal Rumble match despite being a female superstar and hence could contain her emotions after hearing this match finally culminating.

The WWE Hall of Famer was present on the Edge & Christian podcast to talk about this historic match. According to her, this is all the women have wanted, till date to showcase their ability in a lengthy match. Check out her quotes, (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)

“This is by design, exactly what this match is intended to do. It’s to create a buzz around the women, and this is exactly what we have all wanted. For the women to become a ticket selling part of the show, not a side attractions, not ‘there’s the bathroom break.”

The Glamazon was impressed by the recent character change of Natalya who had a strong run with the championship around her waist following Summerslam 2017. But, while picking the favourite one to win the Royal Rumble match, she picked up the girl who has all the momentums by her side, right now, i.e. Paige.

However, with an injury suffered by her, we’re in doubt whether Paige will be available for the upcoming match. Here are further quotes by Beth Phoenix,

“If I’m on the spot, someone who really has a lot of momentum right now and is really making waves, I gotta go with Paige.”
