Big Cass is quite fortunate for getting a good position on the Smackdown roster just after coming back on live TV.
He suffered a significant injury following this year’s Wrestlemania. He ruptured his knee badly forcing him to undergo a surgery. Due to the torn MCL, he had to get sidelined for more than eight months. The Big Man recuperated in time for Wrestlemania 34.
His return had to be in reserve until the superstar shakeup due to lack of arrangements. He landed on Smackdown Live straight to go into a feud against none other than Daniel Bryan. Things looked good, as he tried to dominate the fan-favourite superstar. But, the recent backstage might have ruined the day for him.
Big Cass has gone out of the script in a recent episode of Smackdown Live, according to the reports of Pro-wrestling sheet. It led him into hot water in the backstage; it also forced him to lose against Daniel Bryan at the Backlash PPV.
On the May 1st episode of Smackdown Live, Big Cass appeared to hype-up his scheduled match against Bryan for one final time. When he called out his opponent, a little man came out in disguise of the leader of the YES movement. After a verbal encounter with him, the script demanded that he delivers a big boot to him.
But, the seven-footer was not happy with it. He wanted to create a bigger impact being the heel and continue to attack the little man inside the ring. But, that was not approved by the officials, at all. They have shot down the idea, but Cass still went ahead to do the same. As a result, we have seen the officials running out to make him stop.
Here are the updates from the source,
“We’re told Cass was directed to be done with the attack after hitting the impersonator with a big boot, but the wrestler asked if he could take it further with a beatdown. Backstage officials said no, but BC felt strongly about doing so and took the issue up with Vince McMahon … who also shot him down.”
The original planning at Backlash might be to give Big Cass the win against Daniel Bryan. It was going to be a much better outcome for the heel.
However, the result turned out to be different. The source suspects this might be due to the backstage heat that the big man is suffering,
“Sources tell us backstage officials were very unhappy and it landed the recently returned wrestler in hot water. A few days later he lost to Daniel Bryan at Backlash, then wasn’t used on TV during SmackDown Live this week. No word on whether that was already the plan before he went off-script.”
