WWE Raw has all the momentums by their side, at this time. The Royal Rumble is approaching and considering the star power that the flagship show has; they just might go on to dominate the match.
Apart from this, next week will mark the 25th anniversary of the show which will be celebrated in a big way. An all-star lineup is scheduled to appear on the show.
To compete with these happenings on the rival brand, WWE Smackdown has come up with some big announcements on the official website. A series of matches has been confirmed to take place on the show, this week which will take place at the Laredo Energy Center in Laredo, Texas.
The first set of matchups will determine yet another championship match at the 31st edition of the Royal Rumble PPV. As we all know, the United States Championship tournament is going on the show, the matchups for the semi-finals have been confirmed to take place, tomorrow night.
In the first match, Xavier Woods will take on against the former WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal. En route this match, the one-third member of the New Day defeated Aiden English, whereas, Jinder has defeated Tye Dillinger on Smackdown, two weeks ago.
The favourite in this matchup is definitely Jinder Mahal. To match up with his persona, he desperately needs a title by his side, and this time around, the officials might crown him with this prestigious one. Woods is not considered to be one of the best singles competitors on the roster, and hence there’s no reason to give him with the win.
In the second case, Bobby Roode should be the winner. This is also quite predictable considering if a heel wins the first contest then it is likely that a babyface will be pitted against him. So, this is going to be a locked lineup for the Royal Rumble night. This one too is considered to be a good decision since Roode needs to be elevated on the roster.
The third one match is a huge tag team match that would take place from the women’s division. Last week, Ruby Riott lost a match against Becky Lynch and issued a challenge on the fallout show to all the babyfaces present on the show. Hence, a six-woman tag match was confirmed. All the members of the Riott Squad will compete against Becky Lynch, Naomi and the Smackdown women’s champion, Charlotte Flair.
