Carmella had successfully defended her championship at Backlash. It was quite a surprise to see her cleanly defeating Charlotte Flair.
It had some heelish antics, for sure. But, that made her villainous gimmick look much stronger, at this time. So, she decided to skip the very next episode of Smackdown Live.
In a video package, Carmella announced to appear on the London episode of Smackdown Live, this week. It would not be just any normal appearance. But, this is going to be a special celebration in honour of her landmark victory at Backlash. She named it to be the Mellabration from the United Kingdom.
It kicked off grandly on Smackdown Live. Yeomen Warders came out as part of the entrance. She went on to cut a heel promo on the blue brand, yet again. Last night’s show was full of talking segments. This segment took the show to a whole new level.

The Princess of Staten Island claimed to be the very best champion that WWE has ever seen. She is better than Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair or Ronda Rousey.
Her bragging continued until Paige; the home-country favourite came out to put a stop to the promo. The UK fans greeted her with, ‘this is your house’ chants.

Giving it back to the fans, she dropped a bombshell on the show. Till date, Carmella was without an opponent for her next title defence. But, now she has one in the form of the former NXT Women’s Champion.
None but Asuka will be her next opponent to challenge for the title. At the Money in the Bank PPV, Carmella vs Asuka will take place.

Once the announcement came from Paige, WWE.com made this match official,
“At WWE Money in the Bank, Asuka aims to unseat SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella at the same pay-per-view where the current titleholder’s march to championship glory began one year ago.
Will Mella be Money? Or will the co-branded pay-per-view be all about Asuka? Find out at WWE Money in the Bank, Sunday, June 17, at 8 ET/5 PT, streaming live on WWE Network!”
