Brie Bella started appearing on Smackdown Live from Summerslam onwards. She aligned with Daniel Bryan as per storyline against The Miz and Maryse. The leader of the YES nation needed this backup by his side for a long time. Otherwise, the combined heel antics from Miz and Maryse became unbearable for him. This brought back the momentums on his court.
The ongoing storyline between the Miz and Daniel Bryan has also become quite interesting with these. Inclusions of their respective wives brought more ingredients and vast booking options on Smackdown Live. Now we need to remember that both Brie Bella and Maryse are former Divas Champions. So they are no less of competitors inside the ring.
This is why Paige booked them in a singles contest on Smackdown last night. This was indeed a historic moment where two former champions were back in a one-on-one match after almost eight years. WWE.com promoted this match to be the main event for the go-home episode for the Hell in a Cell PPV event.
This indeed was the main event of the night with Brie Bella coming out in a new in-ring gear. Miz flanked Maryse towards the ring while giving accompany during the matchup. Brie started the match on a quicker note trying to put a headlock to Maryse. But her opponent bailed out of the ring. Brie went for another one after Maryse came back.
But Maryse did the hair flip pose through the ropes before bailing out of the ring again. She was basically trying to escape the match on a constant basis. So the crowd started booing them. The Miz was not happy with the Smackdown audience giving negative reactions to his wife. So he reminded everyone that Maryse has just been over with pregnancy and came back to competition.
The crowd continued to shower them with boos. So the Miz decided to leave the ring saying, “This match, your little main event, is over. We will see you two at Hell in a Cell. Thank you.” The Miz and Maryse walked towards the locker room. But Brie Bella grabbed Maryse towards the ring, again. She hit her face on the apron for multiple times before pulling her into the ring.

Miz and Bryan started a brawl outside the ring. It allowed Maryse to give a cheap shot to Brie but she failed to get the pinfall. Rather Brie locked in the YES lock on Maryse to almost tap her out. But Miz pulled Brie Bella off the ring to disqualify the match. A chaos broke out involving all of these on Smackdown. Daniel Bryan was able to send Miz out if the ring to stand tall. He and her wife celebrate to end things on a happy note for the fans.
