WWE News: Brock Lesnar To Lose And Regain The Universal Title Before Wrestlemania 34
May 19, 2017 at 2:52 PM
We previously reported that WWE has already planned the main event of Wrestlemania 34. It will be Brock Lesnar defending the Universal championship against Roman Reigns. The match that took place back in 2015 never witnessed a proper finish and a rematch was needed from WWE’s perspective.
In case you don’t know, Wrestlemania 34 will mark the end of Brock Lesnar’s contract with the WWE. He is set to leave the company on that night. Before that, he will put over the supposed franchise of the company in a great way which makes this one match a must-happen.
Plus, Brock Lesnar is considered as the monstrous heel in the company who is literally invincible. A win against him at the grandest stage of them all will cement the legacy of Roman Reigns. So, WWE universe has to get ready to witness another championship coronation for “The Guy” to whom the yard belongs, right now.
With that being said, WWE has to keep the title intact on the beast incarnate for an entire year. Now, there are already some negative reactions on Lesnar’s championship reign. His contract does not allow him to perform on a regular basis sidelining him from WWE for a better part of the year.
So, the prime title of Monday Night Raw will not be present on the show for a significant time. To encounter this problem, WWE creative might have come up with a new planning. As revealed by Dave Meltzer, he might drop the title around Summerslam and then win it back before next year’s April.
This would keep the main event of Wrestlemania 34 intact but would also avoid the backlash from the fans. However, no confirmed name was given by the veteran journalist as of who would dethrone the champion from his reign.
He hinted that someone from the Extreme Rules fatal-5-way match might turn out to be the one. Seth Rollins and Finn Balor have the most possibilities to pick up the title.
Also, Braun Strowman is a viable option considering how high Vince McMahon is on the big man. He will be facing Brock Lesnar at the main event of Summerslam PPV upon return. So, the title might change hand at that PPV, as well.
