WWE News: Brock Lesnar may not appear at Summerslam 1

During the recently held UFC 199 pay-per-view, it was announced that Brock Lesnar is heading back to the UFC. ESPN’s @SportsCenter account on Twitter declared the news that the beast is returning to the Octagon.

The News came as a shocker as he is already in a contract with WWE. WWE then clarified the same as a “one-off opportunity” as they posted the below on their official website:
“Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.”

The pro-wrestling fraternity has been buzzing since the news broke out that Brock Lesnar will fight Mark Hunt with the possibility that if Brock Lesnar will be available for Summerslam or not. Though WWE has addressed the situation straight by stating that he will return at the summer’s biggest event but a bit of “if-and-else” still lies with the situation.

As per reports from the Fight Networks, Laz Benitez of the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) stated that a New York-based physician will have to clear Brock Lesnar for competing at Summerslam. The pay-per-view is scheduled to be held at the Barclays center in Brooklyn, New York.

The report also states that there are huge chances of Brock Lesnar getting hurt at the UFC 200 pay-per-view against Mark Hunt. And, if any such concussion appears after the event then it would be difficult for Lesnar to appear at Summerslam considering the fact that UFC 200 is scheduled to happen on July 9th whereas Summerslam is to be on August 21st, i.e. enough time is not available for him to recover.

It will be safe to say that WWE may have done a mistake by pre-advertising Lesnar for Summerslam where the fight has not been occurred, yet. In addition, Mark Hunt has been a knock-out machine and on the other hand, Brock Lesnar has not commented in an octagon since his arrival in WWE.

There are a hell lot of differences between the scripted fight in a pro-wrestling match and the exertions of an octagon match i.e. real fight. The only hope lies with Brock Lesnar himself who is considered as a freak of nature who should be available for Summerslam.
