WWE News: Brock Lesnar Not Expected To Appear At The Extreme Rules PPV

Brock Lesnar won the Universal championship back at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando, Florida. On that night he defeated Goldberg in a classic match that ended their bitter rivalry.

He became the 4th person to hold the Universal championship. Now, he was last seen on Monday Night Raw at the very next night where he had a confrontation with Braun Strowman.

Since then, we have speculated that we should not have to wait long until get to see Strowman challenging Lesnar for the title. The way WWE is giving the mountain among men a push, it was quite relatable that it’s only a matter of time since the title match takes place, soon.

But, Strowman was in the midst of his rivalry with Roman Reigns. So, the match quite possibly could not take place at the Payback PPV. Extreme Rules would have been more appropriate now that Strowman has pinned Reigns clean there. Apparently, this plan is also wiped out for now.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brock Lesnar is not advertised for the upcoming Raw-exclusive PPV to take place at the Prudential centre in Newark, New Jersey on June 4th. Rather, he is only being advertised for the Great Balls of Fire PPV on July 9th.

Although Cagesideseats.com reported that the champion will make more PPV appearance during his championship reign, he is expected to make only two PPV appearances i.e. Great Balls of Fire and Summerslam. This would certainly be similar to his title reign from 2014-15 stint.

There would certainly be a backlash among the fans over the fact that the prime championship of the flagship brand is not present for quite a long time now. Plus, it has breached the WWE rulebook of not defending the title within a span of 30 days.

This might led to a potential title change at the Summerslam PPV. The previous reports suggested that Brock Lesnar would make his hold to the title until next year’s Wrestlemania so that a rematch with Roman Reigns could take place. Plus, this would ensure a championship coronation for the franchise player against the ultimate heel of the company.

But, no title change for a long time would make the title storyline stale. So, a change of planning might be done by the creative in due course that will be effective in the Summerslam PPV.
