WWE News: Brock Lesnar to Face a Smackdown Superstar at Survivor Series 1

As per the recent reports, Brock Lesnar will not be able to go on a long hiatus after defending his Universal Championship at the No Mercy PPV.

At one point, we believed that he would not make any further appearances this year. Next year, around the Royal Rumble PPV, he will return to defend his title, again.

But, as reported earlier, the beast incarnate will be back to work at the Survivor Series PPV. Previously, WWE had advertised John Cena to headline the PPV, but now that he will not be able to make it on that night, Brock Lesnar replaced him on the card. So, he is expected to have a marquee match on the show.

Now, as we have learned from the previous year, this is that particular one night where two brands, Raw and Smackdown Live go head-to-head. It is the reason why the last dual brand PPV of the year is a special one for the fans, as they get to witness numerous cross-brand matches. One of such matches is supposed to be the headliner of this year’s event.

According to the reports of Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brock Lesnar will face none other than Jinder Mahal on this year’s Survivor Series PPV. The match might be built up, as the two prime champions from their respective brand will lock horns. It is going to be the main event of the co-branded event on November 19th.

If the recent happenings are any indications, then Jinder Mahal is not going to lose the WWE Championship until the event. Rather, he will keep the momentum on his side till that PPV. Also, we need to keep in mind the strong performer that he became by pinning Shinsuke Nakamura in two straight PPV matches. So, the build-up to this match is quite understandable.

The pleasure will be for the Modern Day Maharaja, as he will get to feature inside the ring against The Conqueror himself toppling the who’s who of the WWE. Brock Lesnar is expected to be back in the WWE in the post – TLC episode of WWE Raw, i.e. on October 23rd. It will mark the beginning for the storylines for Survivor Series PPV where we should learn more on this angle.
