Carmella made history, last year by winning the Money in the Bank briefcase. It was for the very first time that a female wrestler was able to hold this opportunistic briefcase that guaranteed a championship opportunity, as per her choice.
Capitalizing on this, she recently became the Smackdown women’s champion.
At the bygone post-Wrestlemania episode of the Tuesday Night show, the then champion, Charlotte Flair was down after an ambush made by the IIconics. The duo assaulted the Queen after debuting on the main roster coming from the NXT brand. It paved the way for Carmella to cash-in the Money in the Bank briefcase to a nearly unconscious champion, successfully.
So, a dominant title reign came to a close at the hands of the princess of Staten Island. It was inevitable, at one point. But, for some fans, it was not a proper decision. They can’t accept the fact that the Lioness of the women’s division of the WWE was pinned by a superstar who does not possess quality wrestling.
EXCLUSIVE: You can’t blame #SDLive #WomensChampion @CarmellaWWE for forgetting to sign the #WWEBacklash contract. She was a little flustered… pic.twitter.com/WJlqh0wxRw

Hence, starting from that point onwards, hatred began to get showered on the woman who made history, twice.
On the social media, too, the fans have been sending her tweets, continually telling how she does not deserve to be a champion on Smackdown.
“Carmella can’t wrestle!” – every single twitter troll. ?? I haven’t had a singles match on a PPV since Dec 2016. I’ve been putting in work since then. Can’t wait to prove y’all wrong at #WWEBacklash. Just don’t jump on the bandwagon bc I DONT need your support. ?????

Addressing to all those negative comments, Carmella posted a suitable answer to all of them. Pointing out the fact that one needs proper tv time or space to get flourished, she wrote,

And I’d be surprised if you were able to hold on to a relationship for more than 2 weeks. ??♀️ https://t.co/smVKR2NOfV

The match that Carmella is indicating is her last PPV match against Nikki Bella at TLC 2016. Going forward, she will receive her next singles PPV match at Backlash when Charlotte Flair invokes her rematch clause to chase the title, once again.
Carmella might be true to her logic. But, it’s a fact that the WWE Universe still goes to cricket when her music hits.
It is certain they are not reacting to her title reign properly which is why this might turn out to be quite short. So, we should not surprise to see her dropping the championship at the upcoming PPV night.
