On WWE Raw, we have learned that the women’s MITB match will be held, this year, too. After the success from last year, the tradition was retained to give more opportunities to the female superstars. WWE Raw GM, Kurt Angle gave us updates on this on the flagship show. Furthermore, being a female GM, Paige got her special interest in this particular match. So, she gave away another opportunity to Charlotte Flair to get back into the title picture.

As per the earlier announcement, an old score was to be settled out on Smackdown Live, this week. The Queen was put in a match against Peyton Royce. The latter one has ambushed the former Smackdown women’s champion on a number of occasions, in the past.

So, she got the opportunity to seek retribution. Furthermore, the win would send her straight into the second-ever MITB ladder match. Adding more salt to the wound of Charlotte, the IIconics added more fuel to their rivalry by talking trash about her. They mentioned about feeling sorry for the loss at Backlash but she is still an inspiration.

This forced Charlotte to start the contest in a fired up way where she gave a chop to the chest followed by a slam. The Flair chops continued as she tried to get Peyton into the Figure 8 lock until Billie Kay pulled her partner outside the ring.

The genetically superior athlete was able to hit a spear on Peyton but she kicked out of the pinfall, surprisingly. Out of frustration, Charlotte went for a moonsault and missed it. But, she still managed to overcome it and locked in the figure-eight in the middle of the ring. Peyton had no choice but to tap out to this.

With that, Charlotte has now entered the women’s MITB fray as the strongest competitor, as per WWE.com,

“Charlotte Flair qualified for Money in the Bank by reigning supreme over Peyton Royce, who laid a vicious beatdown on The Queen during her SmackDown LIVE debut. The six-time Women’s Champion does not like to come in second, and after failing to recapture the title from The Princess of Staten Island at WWE Backlash, she is focused on capitalizing on her new opportunity.”

Last year, too, Charlotte Flair was part of the first-ever women’s MITB match but she failed to win it. This year, she should be focused, even more after coming up short against Carmella at the Backlash PPV.
