WWE News: Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch Title Match Confirmed For Hell In A Cell PPV 1

Charlotte has defended her championship for the first time on last week’s Smackdown. Carmella received her rematch after losing the title at Summerslam. We expected Becky Lynch to interfere into this costing Charlotte the matchup. But the champ received a clean submission win to retain the women’s championship.

We should note that Charlotte Flair promised to give a title shot to Becky Lynch in the future. Now that Carmella is behind her, a championship match between these two seemed evident. The Irish Lass-kicker attacked the champion at the end of Smackdown Love last week. She promised to take the title away from The Queen at Hell in a Cell.

Meanwhile, an interesting conversation broke out on Twitter between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. The potential challenger claimed to have the title match inside Hell in a Cell structure. The champion did not have any complaint about it whatsoever. So the anticipation was that we might get a women’s Hell in a Cell match on September 16th.

Well, WWE.com did not look out for any further build up to make the match official. They released a statement just before Smackdown Live went on the air to make the match official,

“The Queen will defend her hard-won — or ill-gotten, depending on whom you ask — Smackdown Women’s Title against The Irish Lass Kicker at the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, bringing one of SmackDown LIVE’s most furious rivalries to a head and cementing a championship picture that was all but unthinkable only six months ago. Tune in to WWE Hell in a Cell, streaming live Sunday, Sept. 16, at 7 ET/4 PT on the award-winning WWE Network.”

As far as last night’s Smackdown is concerned, the two former friends had a sit down for an interview session. Charlotte talked about how Becky Lynch attacked her at Summerslam. It was unfortunate that how Becky lost the title opportunity but put the blame on the new champion. Furthermore, she won the championship but lost a best friend.

Becky Lynch responded asking whether she was over by stealing her spotlight. It was her fault to steal the one-on-one title opportunity by returning on Smackdown. She could have stayed away from the scene But she did not do it, intentionally. Becky is over to protect her insecurities being the sidekick. Charlotte called her the second best whereas Becky named her a delusional before leaving the microphone.

The feud between these two has gone far away. Hell in a Cell would be the perfect place to settle the scores. We expect a solid match between these two of them over the Smackdown women’s championship.
