Cody Rhodes decided to part ways with the WWE after Wrestlemania 32. WWE has no planning whatsoever with the bizarre Stardust gimmick. It took Cody nowhere in his career and he asked for a release from the company.
His wish was fulfilled after which he and his wife, Brandy Rhodes aka WWE announcer, Eden Stills left the industry.
This brought a new life to his career, as he literally killed the independent wrestling circuit. A plethora of opportunities came his way and he made the most of it. First of all, they both debuted in the Impact Wrestling promotion to perform as a couple.
His contract was an exclusive one which allowed him to perform in both Impact and Ring of Honour promotion. To the much delight of the pro-wrestling circuit, he became part of the infamous Bullet Club on the later promotion. This has rejuvenated his career taking it to the maximum limit.
Recently, Cody Rhodes appeared in an interview with 107.7 The Bone in California where he clarified that WWE had a hell of an idea stored for him which never came out to fruition. The creative has informed him that once the brand split will come into effect, he will be given the opportunity to perform as Cody Rhodes in one brand and Stardust on the other.
“At one point the plan was for me to be Stardust on one brand, and Cody Rhodes on another brand. I thought that was a really great idea. Absolutely wanted to do it! Everybody wanted to do it except for one person who will remain nameless, but that one person has the main vote.”
The son of the legendary Dusty Rhodes also opened up about the situation with JBL bullying WWE superstars at backstage. He stated that he has never faced such a situation commenting:
“I’ve known JBL since I first got there ya know in 2007…I never encountered that with John at all. Wrestling isn’t for everybody though. It’s not bullying sometimes when it’s just playful ribbing… I never personally saw any bullying the entire time, and I was there for 11 years, and in every locker room.”
