Daniel Bryan walked out of Elimination Chamber pay-per-view retaining his WWE Championship. He defeated five other superstars to earn the biggest win of his title reign. The five challengers put against him were AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, and Samoa Joe all of whom are veteran names from Smackdown roster.
So this win should remain as a milestone in the career of Daniel Bryan. He won the WWE Championship back in November and is likely to continue the reign until Wrestlemania 35 arrives. The creative team might wish him to enter the biggest event of the year with the title around the shoulder. So they did allow the heel one to defy the odds and retain at Elimination Chamber.
Plus, this title win handed a big record beside the name of Daniel Bryan. He joined an elite list of superstars who won the Elimination Chamber match on multiple occasions. With this Sunday night’s victory, he now stands in the same league to that of Triple H, John Cena, and Edge. All of them won this type of match for multiple times.
Triple H is indeed the king of Elimination Chamber match. He has entered this structure for the most times and also holds the records of the maximum wins. He won this match on 4 occasions with two back to back wins in 2008 and 2009. John Cena followed up The Game with three wins inside the steel structure.
This man also had two back to back wins in 2010 and 2011. WWE Hall of Famer Edge won Elimination Chamber for two times i.e. in 2009 and 2011. This particular show has been on the Road to Wrestlemania for most of the times. So it’s no wonder why they have featured in so many championship matches at Wrestlemania, over the years.
This kind of match helps to make a superstar, legend. The mentioned three has already reached the status with Daniel Bryan well on his way to this club. He holds two Elimination Chamber match victories tying the record set by Edge. Bryan had his first such win back in 2012 to walk into Wrestlemania with the world heavyweight championship.
The same should happen this year, too. Daniel Bryan proved to be the meanest and strongest heel on the Smackdown roster since the get-go. His status has now reached an extreme level following the Elimination Chamber match win. He will definitely have another title defense at Fastlane but that should not stop him from going into Wrestlemania as the champion.
