There has been a major change to the main event of CLash of Champions following this week’s Smackdown Live. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are the two heel superstars who have been involved in storyline angles against Shane McMahon for the last couple of months. They were furious over not getting a chance to feature at the Survivor Series match card.
So, it was last week when Shane declared that there these two will get the main event spotlight at the upcoming Clash of Champions PPV when they face the team of Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura. The added stipulation to the match is that if they end up losing the match, then their time in the WWE will be over.
This would be a sweet revenge from the commissioner of Smackdown Live to Kevin Owens who once beat down his father. To ensure that the prizefighter and his best friend do not get away by playing any of the dirty tricks, Shane appointed himself as the special guest referee of the match.
I’m looking forward to being the special guest referee and having the best seat in the house for the tag team match of @FightOwensFight and @SamiZayn as they take on The Viper @RandyOrton and his partner @ShinsukeN at #WWEClash. pic.twitter.com/u5FQ8Bbdyd

Quite expectedly, this was the last nail in the coffin for Zayn and Owens’ WWE career. So, this weeks’ show started with the duo pleading to Daniel Bryan for reverting the stipulation of the match as they are the top superstars of the blue brand. They even came up with the plan of hijacking Smackdown with a YEP movement but that did not come to fruition.
But, it sure has been able to catch the attention of the general manager. To make things fair and ensure that the heel duo gets the opportunity to save their career, one last time, he came up with a huge announcement. The former world champion will now be acting as the second general manager for the tag team match at Clash of Champions.

This came as a slobber-knocker idea from the Smackdown creative team to hype up the tag team contest. With this much stakes on the line, this match will be going down at the very end of the match card. Plus, for the first time ever, Daniel Bryan will be involved in a physical capacity following his retirement which is an added attraction for the crowd.
Plus, the tease of a potential in-ring return for Daniel Bryan is continuing with this announcement. It will also continue the ongoing rift between Shane McMahon and him which is ongoing for months now. The million dollar question is this whether WWE will allow the GM to wrestle by virtue of this. We are going to get more hints on it once the match concludes on this Sunday.
