Daniel Cormier is still sitting at the top of the UFC promotion. He retained the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 230 PPV event against Derrick Lewis. The contender threw big challenge towards him during the second round of the match. But the champion fought back in the next round locking in the rear naked choke hold that earned him the victory.

Derrick Lewis tapped out to hand him a submission victory. Following the win, we heard some interesting words from Daniel Cormier directed to Brock Lesnar. The interviewers obviously threw some questions towards him about the potential match against the current WWE Universal Champion. The UFC Champion advised him to bring the title alongside him.

This could make him feel like a WWE Superstar. He could also become a dual-sport champion if he defeats Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. Daniel Cormier already is the first man to defend the UFC Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight Championships. There are chances to see him fight against the Universal Champion.
Brock Lesnar can’t compete inside the Octagon in 2018 due to USADA suspension. But he will be free in January 2019. This could set up the dream match between Daniel Cormier vs. Brock Lesnar at UFC 233. This would take place on Saturday, January 26, 2019, i.e. just one day before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
So, the two head honchos of the companies should have an immediate showdown to make the fight happen. It’s rare to see a Champion vs. Champion bout between the two different sports personalities. Imagine the mainstream attention it could earn for the WWE if the match becomes a reality. Maybe, this is the only reason why WWE crowned Brock Lesnar with the Universal Championship.
Chances were there to see a Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Cormier from UFC 226 PPV. These two had a confrontation after the main event fight was over. UFC president Dana White confirmed that the match will eventually take place. He does not have any problem either if the beast brings his Universal Championship to the Octagon.

During a media press gathering prior to UFC 230, White was asked about Lesnar winning the belt at #WWECrownJewel. “I don’t think Vince will let him bring it,” remarked White. “But he can bring whatever belt he wants [to the Octagon].”
