Dean Ambrose suffered the elbow injury at the worst time which might have caused him an opportunity work at the grandest stage of them all in 2018. As reported earlier, the injury occurred in an episode of WWE Raw where we were quite confused whether the injury was an original one or a work from the WWE creative team.
The reason behind that was a backstage attack to the Lunatic Fringe of the WWE by Samoa Joe, Sheamus, and Cesaro. An ambush was delivered to both Rollins and Ambrose that left both of them lying in the absence of the third member of the Shield, Roman Reigns. So, basically, it was thought to write off Dean Ambrose from a storyline perspective.
However, later, WWE came up with an official update about the condition of the former undisputed WWE Champion that stated that Dean Ambrose had to undergo a surgery to fix the tears in his triceps. So, it’s quite obvious that he will miss out a significant amount of time from in-ring competition.
INJURY UPDATE: An MRI has shown suspicion for a high-grade triceps tendon injury, so @TheDeanAmbrose is undergoing surgical exploration and most likely surgical repair of the torn triceps tendon. https://t.co/uMh8c72K6A

Dr. Jeffery Dugas performed the surgery on Dean Ambrose in Birmingham, Alabama and let us known that he tore the distal triceps tendons where it connects to his forearm bone. This is why Ambrose was seen clutching his right arm on Raw that night. He was dealing with a concussion with this for quite sometimes. Check out further updates by the doctor,
“He basically tore about 50 percent of the triceps tendon away from the bone. So yesterday we repaired that back down to the bone where it tore off of. The surgery was very straightforward; we removed all of the extra bursal tissue — all of that extra swollen stuff around his elbow.”
No time span for Dean Ambrose’s hiatus has been declared by the WWE, till date. The bad news is that this kind of “high-grade triceps tendon injury” takes almost six months to be repaired, properly. So, going by the upcoming schedule, it’s evident that he will miss the biggest event of the year from New Orleans, Louisiana. This surely had given a headache to the WWE officials as they will miss one of the marquee match competitors from the show.
