Since retiring in 2011 due to a neck injury, WWE has barred Edge from any in-ring activities. He mentioned in the heartfelt speech that may go down as the most emotional of all time that confirmed we’d never see him in competition, ever again. This marked the career-end of the legendary wrestler as well as end chances of getting physical inside the squared circle.

Will The Rock Appear On Smackdown Live 20th Anniversary?

The situation was intact until this year’s SummerSlam where Edge returned to his hometown of Toronto to get physical for the first time in eight years by delivering a spear to Elias. This stunned the crowd since they were aware of the fact that one bad bump could put him in a paralyzed condition. However, the situation is not that much worse as confirmed by the Hall of Famer himself who threw an insider look to his current physical condition.

Will WWE Hall Of Famer Edge Be Returning To In-Ring Competition?

Edge talked about delivering his first wrestling move in a long time during a segment of the E&C Pod of Awesomeness. WWE did not inform him in advance about performing his pendant finisher until it was time. It was just 15 minutes before the kick-off show started when the officials instructed him about doing so. Eliss had to write an impromptu script, as well.

The Rated-R Superstar then added that there are misconceptions about his neck injury. People think that there are no chances for him to ever get physical. But what they don’t know that he does all the stunts of his film on his own. Even he got to know of his condition in a better way ever since that retirement announcement came in 2011. Here’s more from him, (quotes courtesy wrestlingINC.com)

“In terms of the spear, what people don’t know is that I do all my fight scenes; whatever it is. So, I’ve actually done a couple of spears acting and with that, there is contact where I am hitting stunt guys, land like you normally would except, honestly like in ‘Haven’ I did one to Kurrgan and we were landing on concrete and that was fine. I think in terms of my neck there is a lot of miseducation and a lot of ‘it’s this and this.’ When I first found out with my retirement speech, I had said what I knew at that point but have since learned a lot more [about my neck injury] and know what my limitations actually are.”

The best part of this situation is we can expect him to come back for a match. Edge concluded the conversation noting that he could probably do a match “tomorrow” despite not wrestling for more than eight years. But WWE medical team won’t allow him to do so since they are quite strict about wrestlers’ physical well-being,

“To be perfectly honest, I think I could do a match tomorrow,” Edge stated. “And I might be blown up, but I’d be okay. It’s just from what I know with the WWE medical staff, they won’t allow it.”

This leaves a ray of hopes for Edge fans as Daniel Bryan is the latest example where he forced the officials to clear him for wrestling, again. So we never know what could be waiting in the future for the veteran wrestler.
