Only one spot was remaining from WWE Raw for the women’s division Elimination Chamber match on February 17th. Perhaps the most favorite team to potentially win the contest reserved their spot in the match following last night tag team battle on WWE Raw. WWE already announced the first qualifier to take place on the Portland edition of the show. Sasha Banks & Bayley vs. Nikki Cross & Alicia Fox was the lineup.
Alicia Fox went for an early pin in the match but Bayley countered with some quick fire moves. Sasha Banks waited for a tag for sometimes before going for a double slam move on the opponents. Bayley hit an elbow drop on Foxy before Nikki Cross took control. She delivered a flying arm off the apron but hit the ring steps hard while following up with a charge.
This allowed Alicia Fox to enter the match into WWE Raw, again with a tag. But she went right into a schoolboy from Bayley to end up losing the match. With this win, Sasha Banks and Bayley cemented their spots into the Elimination Chamber tag team championship bout. Sasha Banks mostly stayed out of the contest since she might be dealing with some injuries. But hopefully, she will be okay in-time to compete at the pay-per-view.
The first-ever women’s tag team championship match will take place at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Six teams will compete on this special contest with the much-anticipated gold as the coveted prize. Three teams will compete from WWE Raw whereas three will be there from Smackdown Live. Spots started to fill up from last week onwards.
On WWE Raw, we had two qualifying matches for Elimination Chamber tag team title match for women superstars. Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka became the first qualifiers defeating the team of Alexa Bliss and Mickie James. The second to qualify was Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan. They defeated Natalya and Dana Brooke for the spot.
Last night, Sasha Banks and Bayley filled up the third spot from WWE Raw by eliminating Alicia Fox and Nikki Cross from the race. Over on Smackdown, there were not any such qualifiers last week. Two teams self-entered themselves into the Elimination Chamber contest. Mandy Rose-Sonya Deville and the IIconics are these two teams leaving only one spot vacant.
