The No Mercy PPV has shaped up to be a bigger event with the dual main events that are confirmed. In the Universal Championship match, Brock Lesnar will defend the title against Braun Strowman in a clash between two behemoths. Plus, two franchise players of the company will also lock horns to reign supreme over each other. John Cena and Roman Reigns will battle it out in a Wrestlemania-worthy matchup.
The anticipation is quite high with both of these matches. Especially, the rumour mill is quite busy finding out whether the beast will get dethroned from his title reign or not. Braun Strowman is the toughest challenge that he will face, till date. Plus, WWE has built him up as the rightmost contender who can take the title away from the champion.
However, later, it was revealed that WWE officials are still intact with the upcoming Lesnar vs Roman Reigns match at Wrestlemania 34 that will get contested for the Universal Championship. It is going to be the main event of the biggest event of the year in which the officials want Lesnar to walk in as the champion. So, he will not drop the title until next year’s April.
It was the reason that cagesideseats.com informed the beast incarnate would retain the title at No Mercy. However, the monster among men would continue his momentum with some incredible actions.
Further reports from RingSideNews.com suggested the initial planning for this title match was to let Lesnar win via a disqualification. It would also ensure that Strowman does not have to digest any pinfall to lose the momentum. Rather, his position in the main event spotlight can be kept intact for future.
But, Paul Heyman is not quite happy with the supposed DQ finish and wished that a match with this calibre does not deserve a finish like this. So, the finish of the match is going to be changed, for sure. It will be interesting to see what new plan WWE creative team comes up with to keep the championship intact with Brock Lesnar.
