Qualifying matches for the women’s tag team championships started from last night’s WWE Raw. As earlier announced by the WWE, six teams from both WWE Raw and Smackdown will get the chance to compete in this historic match at Elimination Chamber. The superstars had to earn their opportunity into this first-of-its-kind experience.
Original plans with women’s tag titles
Two qualifiers were there for the women’s tag team Elimination Chamber matchup. The first qualifying match took place between the team of Nia Jax and Tamina up against Alexa Bliss and Mickie James. The two Samoan superstars are on a roll for quite sometimes with their mean streaks. So they picked up the victory quite conveniently after Nia Jax pulled off an amazing stunt. She delivered a double Samoan Drop on Bliss and James to secure their spot at Elimination Chamber.
The second contest took place on WWE Raw where Natalya and Dana Brooke formed an odd team. Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan represented the Riott Squad against these two to become the second team to go into the historic match. Their heel tactics came out handy to win this match on the show. Liv pushed Dana into Natalya who locked in the Sharpshooter on Logan. Thereafter a schoolboy was enough to pin Nattie and pick up the win.
WWE already confirmed the time and place for crowning the inaugural women’s tag team champions. It will take place inside the Elimination Chamber where six teams will battle it out over these brand new gold. Rules of this match will be similar to that of the traditional Elimination Chamber match.
Six teams will be in the match. Two teams will start it with the other fours remaining locked inside the pods. They will come out one by one at a specific gap to fill up the ring. Meanwhile, eliminations can happen via submission or pinfall. In this case, anyone’s elimination will force both the team members to be out of the match.
As we can see, WWE has chosen two tag teams from Monday Nights that leaves four more spots. Smackdown superstars will help filling up void when the show airs on the USA Network, tonight. Expectations are that Mandy Rose-Sonya Deville, The IIconics and Charlotte-Becky Lynch will be these three fortunate tag teams to go into Elimination Chamber.
