This past Survivor Series weekend, we had the NXT TakeOver: WarGames event where WWE brought back the tradition of hosting a brutal steel cage match surrounding not one but two rings. On that night, the NXT Championship was on the line between Drew McIntyre and Andrade Cien Almas.
A shocking title change was witnessed on that night, as Almas took full advantage of Zelina Vega standing by his side. He became the new NXT Champion beating the Sinister Scotsman. It is first-time in the history of the NXT that a Latin American was able to capture the championship.
As speculated once the match was over Drew McIntyre might have suffered an injury. Later, while giving an interview at Facebook, Triple H confirmed that the former champion was indeed suffering from a concussion after getting over the match.
As per the reports on WWE.com, Drew McIntyre might have suffered a torn bicep towards the end of the match. For this, he has to stay away from in-ring competition for some time now. No update was available on how long he will have to stay away. Check out the information provided on the official website:
“Drew McIntyre ended up on the losing side of a grueling NXT Championship Match against Andrade “Cien” Almas at TakeOver: WarGames and could be facing some time on the sidelines with an injury.
During Triple H’s exclusive post-NXT TakeOver: WarGames Facebook LIVE interview, WWE’s COO mentioned McIntyre might have a torn bicep. Triple H also said now; the former NXT Champion would get an MRI on Sunday to see if he did indeed suffer a torn bicep, which could result in surgery.”
The injury might have occurred at the very end of the match when Almas pinned McIntyre for the title. The latter was stuck into the ropes while Almas set him up for a DDT. It looked like the former champion put on strain on his arms while hanging on the ropes. Following the pin, he was holding his arm in pain.
The injury came at a wrong time for the Scottish superstar. He was waiting to come to the main roster of the WWE after losing the title. Now, he will have to stay away from the company for an indefinite time span. It might postpone the main roster return for an indefinite time.
