The biggest event of the summer is approaching fast towards us. Summerslam will be hosted by the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for the third consecutive year on this Sunday, August 20th. The line-ups for the PPV have been finalised and we are expecting a jam-packed edition, yet again.
Since this is the second biggest event of the year, we can certainly expect some major surprises on the show or even after that. The fallouts from the event will pave the way for the upcoming fall. We are getting news that things will certainly get bigger with one such pleasant surprise just after the night of Summerslam.
It was earlier confirmed that John Cena has now become a ‘free agent’ in the WWE. During his return on July 4th, he was advertised with the same status that would allow him to get on board on both Raw and Smackdown. We hinted earlier that he is probably, Raw-bound after Summerslam and that is what it’s going to be, as per the advertisements.

The Summerslam venue will host the post-Summerslam Raw episode. The arena has now started promoting the show stating that John Cena will make his return to the flagship show on the night of August 21st so that we should not miss the moment. The franchise player of the company is out of the flagship show for more than a year and a half, for now.
It was up on the rumour mill, that at one point Cena will be spun between the two brands. But, the exact timing was not yet known by the sources. Now, the official twitter handle of the Barclays Center might have ended the speculations by posting the tweet that indicates that this week’s Smackdown witnessed his last appearance on Tuesday Nights, for now.
This is quite an interesting from the creative perspective since they will get to use Cena on some new capacities, going forward. It is the reason why we have witnessed two first-ever matches on Smackdown Live. Cena competed against Shinsuke Nakamura three weeks ago, whereas, also faced Jinder Mahal, this week. It indicates that the officials are aware that they might not get another chance to host these two matches in the future.
