Ronda Rousey retained WWE Raw women’s championship at the TLC PPV. She defeated Nia Jax in a physical matchup despite the distractions from Tamina. This rivalry on WWE Raw is over for good as we look forward to the next challenge waiting for the ‘baddest woman on the planet’. Last night’s WWE Raw determined the new challenger for the champion in a huge main event match.
The women’s champion on WWE Raw came out in Sacramento, California in a nice reception from the crowd. But she denied giving an explanation for what she did to Charlotte and Becky Lynch at TLC. Instead, she looks ready for a fight on the show. In fact, Ronda Rousey wanted to start a new tradition on WWE Raw where a champion should have a mandatory title defense following a PPV. This should happen despite the condition the champion is.
With that being said, Ronda Rousey threw an open challenge to the women’s roster. We went into the gorilla position of WWE Raw where women superstars were quarreling over who should get a chance. Stephanie McMahon had to control the situation to prevent a brawl on the show. She wanted to give each of them a chance and hence decided to play fair. Another historic match up was waiting for them, next.
Eight women superstars from WWE Raw competed in a second-ever Gauntlet match on the show. Earlier in 2018, we saw a similar kind of matchup to determine an Elimination Chamber contestant. Sasha Banks won that match who came close this time, too. Unfortunately, she lost this time despite coming close. Here’s how the match progressed with individual match results,
Bayley vs. Alicia Fox – Bayley defeated Alicia Fox with a simple roll-up.
Bayley vs. Dana Brooke – Bayley hit the Bayley-to-belly to win the second match
Bayley vs. Mickie James – Mickie James hit the big DDT to eliminate Bayley from the match
Mickie James vs. Ember Moon – Moon successfully connected with the Eclipse to get the win
Ember Moon vs. Natalya – Nattie eliminated Moon with an O’Connor roll.
Natalya vs. Ruby Riott – Natalya won this match via a Schoolboy after Riott missed a reverse senton.
Natalya vs. Sasha Banks – Natalya countered a Meteora from Banks into the Sharpshooter to pick up the big win. She will now face Ronda Rousey for the WWE Raw women’s championship on next week’s Christmas Eve edition.
