For the past few days, the rumor mill has been kept buzzing over the fact that Goldberg is returning to the company after a long hiatus of nearly 12 years. The news was further fuelled when Brock Lesnar challenged Goldberg in a recent tweet alongside his advocate Paul Heyman, just days ago. He mocked the former WCW franchise by calling a “supportive player”. In return, Goldberg hinted for a perhaps showdown in recent future.
Since he will be present at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday, a certain feeling is that WWE will try to make an appearance with him in a certain capacity. He was doing promotion for the same in Germany, recently when he gave a hint of a future return. He mocked Brock Lesnar by saying, “I should be on the cover because I killed the guy who is going to be on the cover.”
Fans present at the press event were literally begging to him for a comeback and started chanting, “Please come back.”
Goldberg assured them by quoting, “For you guys, I’ll see what I can do. All I can tell you is at tomorrow morning at 6:55 I’m getting on a train and I’m going to Frankfurt. Then I’m going to New York City, and that’s all I can say about that. But you never say never, even when you’re my age. Because I have no issue putting the tights and the boots on and those gloves and ripping people’s faces off again. All I need is the opportunity to do it. So all I can say is all you fans out there keep doing what you’re doing and it’ll happen. The question is: Who do you want to see me strangle?”
Since the day, the first trailer of the WWE video game WWE 2K17 has released, WWE fans were turned into a frenzy with the returning possibility of the former World Champion who left the company 12 years ago. What was even more interesting on the trailer was a sign of Suplex City which taunted an upcoming feud between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg.
The former WCW champion was last seen in a WWE ring at Wrestlemania 20 against the beast, Brock Lesnar. Eventually, that match marked the last of their then stint at WWE.
