The main event of Super ShowDown will go down in the history books of the WWE for wrong reasons. It witnesses Goldberg facing The Undertaker in a dream match that never happened during their primetime. Thankfully, WWE did book them in this blockbuster match that turned out to be the worst outing of their career. Both the legends had several botches throughout the match that led the fans to pledge about their retirement.

The backlash was more on Goldberg since he was the one to knock himself out during the encounter which turned out to be the key reason behind those botches. Appearing on Booker T’s “The Hall of Fame” radio show, the WCW legend opened up on the miscommunications he had with The Undertaker on that night. As per him, the missed run towards the ring post ruined the match that could have been a memorable encounter.
Rusev And Lana To Leave WWE In Upcoming Months
Appearing on Booker T’s “The Hall of Fame” radio show, the WCW legend, Goldberg shared his idea about the match. He ran straight into the turnbuckles to squash Undertaker in a running motion. ‘Taker got out of the harm’s way letting him hit hard the steel post on his head. This caused bleeding which apparently knocked him out for good,
“If I’m gonna be a defensive lineman that was an all-American, if I’m gonna be a guy that played a couple of years in the NFL, if I’m gonna be a guy that is known to be a thrasher, I’m not gonna run into a turnbuckle and miss it and act as it killed me. I can’t do that, so I have to make it look as close to it killing me as possible. And sometimes, unfortunately, the circumstances are such that I go a little overboard.”

Booker T went ahead to make us remind that Goldberg did the same spot two decades ago in WCW and suffered the same consequences. So after the match, a few officials approached him and informed that they have already predicted the finish after that spot,
“A couple of the bookers came up to me afterward and said, ‘We called it, we knew you were gonna do that’ because fifty percent of the time that I’ve done that spot, I’ve not had good results.”
Goldberg was able to erase the bad memory of the WWE Universe by his performance at Summerslam against Dolph Ziggler. As for The Undertaker, he had a solid outing at Extreme Rules with Roman Reigns as his tag team partner.
