After weeks of anticipation, we finally received an announcement on WWE Raw on women’s tag team championships. The expectation was that these new titles will see daylight around Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania 35. The officials confirmed that we will have the inaugural champions as the Road to Wrestlemania 35 kicks off. A historic match will take place at WWE Elimination Chamber to crown the new title-holders.

Alexa Bliss gave the breaking news during her Raw talk show “A Moment of Bliss”. She was the first one to make us learn that we will receive the women’s tag team champions at Elimination Chamber. Six teams (three from WWE Raw and three from Smackdown Live) will compete over the titles. Furthermore, the match itself will be an Elimination Chamber match!

WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on February 17th. Tickets are available for the show which should receive a boost after the announcement regarding the women’s tag team championships. Women superstars from the WWE are up for making history once again at the beginning of 2019.

At this point, we don’t know which teams will compete in this mega Elimination Chamber match. It seemed only fitting that the first-ever Chamber match winner Alexa Bliss came up with the announcement of the second-ever such match from the women’s division. Here are the rules of the match courtesy of WWE.com,

“Two teams will start the bout while the remaining four duos remain enclosed in pods. At specified intervals, a pod will open at random, enabling a new team to enter the match. This will continue until all six pairs have joined the bout. If one member of a team gets eliminated at any time via pinfall or submission, both members of the team are eliminated and must leave the contest. The last tag team standing will be declared the winner and the first-ever Women’s Tag Teams Champions.”

Giving a new championship to the women superstars of the WWE will heat up the competition among them, going forward. They will now have one more reason to fight for. Also, the fact that both WWE Raw and Smackdown superstars are getting chances to compete at Elimination Chamber confirms that the women’s tag team titles will be available on both the brands. We expect more announcements on this matter in due course.
