We received some breaking news in terms of returns on this week’s edition of WWE Raw. Two of prime superstars on the show are out with injury who is likely to come back, sooner. At least, vignettes from WWE suggested that trying to keep things fresh. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are these two who are real-life best friends from Canada.
Sami Zayn had a bad habit of picking up injuries ever since coming up on the main roster. At first in 2015, he debuted on the main roster facing John Cena in a United States Open Challenge match. He injured one shoulder by throwing his arm up on the way to the ring. It was just the beginning to make things worse for him. Earlier this year, he reinjured the same spot.
During this year’s summer, Sami Zayn involved in perhaps the worst feud of the year against Bobby Lashley. It culminated much quickly at the Money in the Bank PPV. We thought that WWE creative was calling an abrupt end to this rivalry just because the fans were not loving it. But the reality was different as he picked up an injury on the same spot.
Apparently, Sami Zayn had two torn rotator cuffs that needed surgery to get fixed. This kind of injury needs at least six to nine months to get healed. From that perspective, he should be back in early 2019. This means that he should be available for Wrestlemania 35. WWE’s vignettes also claim that he should return to the scene, quickly.
Here are his comments in an earlier interview with WWE.com,
“It started to get progressively worse, so basically, long story short, it turns out I have two torn rotator cuffs. The left one and the right one are both torn. I just underwent surgery on the right one, and then in about six or seven weeks, I’ll be undergoing surgery on the left one, and hopefully, I can come back healthy and happy.”
Meanwhile, the ‘underdog from the underground’ has also given an update on the social media regarding his health. It was good to hear that he is doing well in rehab sessions. Furthermore, he hinted that a character change might be coming up for him upon return. This indicates that Sami Zayn can go back to his original babyface character. Here are his full comments,
“During this time off, I’ve been working on becoming a better person and letting go of a lot of toxic elements that come with egotism & ambition. But I just watched that teaser for my return on #Raw and remembered how good I am at pro wrestling. I actually forgot how great I am.”
It’s needless to say that Sami Zayn always used to be one of the most fan favorites of WWE Universe. But the babyface character did not help him much on the main roster. So last year, he went heel making an ally with Kevin Owens. The tag team was going strong on WWE Raw until both of them got bitten by the injury bug. We hope a speedy recovery to both of them.
