Controversies have surrounded with the first-ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. WWE has created it in order to make history but then it might have become a nightmare for the show-runners of Smackdown Live. The problems started during the end of the match when James Ellsworth started to climb the ladder.
Eventually, he reached the top of it and unhooked the briefcase. He then handed it to Carmella. Although the officials have never declared her as the winner, she left with the briefcase by becoming the first-ever Miss Money in the Bank. However, that status did not stay for a long time, though.
During this past edition of Smackdown Live, Daniel Bryan has taken the rightmost decision for it. With the logic that Carmella was not the one to unhook the briefcase by climbing up the ladder, he stripped off Carmella from the contract. With this decision, The Princess of Staten Island has also become the first one to lose her Money in the Bank contract.
A second ladder match will be contested on this upcoming episode of Smackdown Live to crown the definite Money in the Bank briefcase holder. There’s a must known clause attached in this bout, and that is James Ellsworth will be banned from ringside, this time. It means Carmella can’t capitalise using her ‘boy’-friend.

As per the earlier reports, Carmella was the original winner penned by the creative. WWE has always wanted to give her a chance with the Money in the Bank briefcase in order to make her a champion. So, it’s quite not clear why this hoopla has been created in between this. She is still supposed to win the next ladder match, as well on her own.
In the meantime, if she comes out as the winner on this upcoming Tuesday Night, she will become the only superstar in the history of the company who will win back-to-back Money in the Bank ladder matches. Triple H recently commented on this brewing situation pointing out how complex it is,
“He did grab the briefcase and hand it down to Carmella. We are entertainment, but the thing that I don’t want to get passed up in this situation is that the women are being given that opportunity just like the men, and that is what this is really about. The entertainment component aside, to treat these women like the athletes that they are – and in some ways have always been – I think you’re seeing that in the world.”
