At this time, John Cena is busy filming a movie name The Pact. It is a romantic comedy with the storyline of three fathers trying to stop their daughters from having sex on their prom night. The movie filming is set to be done around June. With the earlier reports, he was set to be back in July once the movie schedule is over.
However, it was stated numerous times that WWE is leaving no stones unturned to pull off good ratings which are going downwards ever since the Wrestlemania season. So, they are trying to bring John Cena back as early as possible on the television. This is why he is expected to show up at the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV, as well.
To fuel up all the rumours of his return, the Cenation Leader posted a tweet yesterday morning hinting his return is just around the corner. In the posted quote he indicated that he is busy doing an exciting project in Atlanta, Georgia. He was referring to the ongoing movie, of course.
Plus, he indicated to return to his home which is WWE once it’s done. In case you don’t know, this week’s Smackdown will be hosted by the Phillips Arena in the same city where Cena is busy wrapping up the schedule. So, there’s an imminent chance of seeing him returning on this Tuesday night.
Taking a second to regroup and recharge. Finishing up a wonderfully funny project in Atlanta, then a trip back home is long overdue @WWE

It will be a great news for the show-runners of Smackdown Live since the appearance would be a huge boost to the show. The absence of the franchise player of the company was a major headache for the creative and for now, it will be wiped out.
Both John Cena and his fiancée, Nikki Bella are absent from Smackdown Live following Wrestlemania. Whereas Cena is busy doing films, Nikki s recovering from her neck concussions. The doctors have given her advice to stay away from wrestling for quite an indefinite time.
The recovery time is said to be four to five months, at least. She has not returned to his training sessions, as well. So, it’s clear that she would not be able to accompany Cena on Smackdown. As per recent updates, there are no chances to see her until Summerslam.
