Following his hiatus after the No Mercy PPV, John Cena was expected to come back to the WWE before the Survivor Series PPV.
He went away from the company to film the upcoming Transformers franchise movie: BumbleBee. There were certain speculations about whether his WWE career was over after suffering the loss at the hands of Roman Reigns.
But, on the Raw talk show following the PPV, the Cenation Leader confirmed that he is not done yet and plenty more left within him, as per wrestling commitment. However, his role as the franchise player of the company will change soon since the flag-bearer of the company will be Roman Reigns from now onwards.
In the meantime, the advertisements of Survivor Series got published on WWE.com which advertised John Cena in the middle which hinted that he would be featuring in the main event match. It also gave birth to rumours that he might compete in a match against The Undertaker, as well.
However, recently, John Cena has been removed in all of the show listings of the WWE for November. The advertisements for Survivor Series got modified which do not have John Cena featuring in it, anymore. Rather, the beast incarnate replaced the Cenation Leader to feature in the main event scene on that night.
The updated listings confirm that the 16-time world champion will not make his comeback in the company until the Holiday season. His first appearance will take place in a special Madison Square Garden Show on 26th of December which will be a Raw-exclusive Live Event. Following that, he is set to make his presence felt on a number of shows on behalf of both the brands.
Check out the updated list of his appearances:
Tuesday, December 26: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY, [RAW]
Wednesday, December 27: Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, NY (RAW)
Friday, December 29: Times Union Center, Albany, NY (RAW)
Saturday, Dec 30: Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL (SmackDown)
With that being said, it is clear that the franchise player of the company might not be available for the Survivor Series PPV. It is going to be the third consecutive year that he will be unable to make it.
