WWE News: John Cena Revealed Original Planning for him at Wrestlemania
John Cena featured in a short feud against the Undertaker for this year’s Wrestlemania. We can’t name this as a proper rivalry. The reason behind this is the absence of Undertaker. He was not keen to appear during the entire buildup of this uncertain match at the biggest show of the year.
Undertaker retired from the pro-wrestling circuit after the match against Roman Reigns. So the fans wondered whether he would resurface again to compete in a contest against the franchise player of the company. He did not bother to answer the challenge laid down by John Cena.
The 16-time world champion called him out on a weekly basis. But he was unable to bring the Deadman back to TV. So John Cena decided to go to Wrestlemania 34 as a fan. He promised to watch the spectacular show with the fans surrounding him at the Mercedes Benz Superdome.
He spoke up on appearing in this special capacity in a recent interview. The creative team gave him an initial hint he would be sitting within the audience for merely ten minutes. He opposed the idea instantly. He demanded an original physical ticket allowed him to sit in the crowd for a more extended portion. Check out his comments from this interview via Sports Illustrated,
“There were reservations about me in the audience. Originally, they wanted me to go out in the crowd for 10 minutes. I said, ‘Absolutely not. I need a ticket, a physical ticket, I need a real seat, and I am going out in that arena when the doors open. It was rewarding to make an unbelievable moment believable,”
John Cena also stated it was a short match for him at the 34th edition of the show. Undertaker did appear at the venue to face him in a match. It was his arrival news that forced Cena to leave the audience sit. He ran to the backstage area once a referee informed him about that.
He was not unhappy in this experience where Undertaker squashed him in just three minutes. Sometimes in life, a person had to look at the bigger picture in front of him. He needs to go beyond the selfish mode. It was one of those instances for the Cenation Leader. He was happy to bring back the mythical character back to the board.
These were his further comments,
“Every single week, the crowd would chant at the top of its lungs, and no one thought I would be sitting in the crowd at WrestleMania, but I was able to do that. I was able to go out and be handily defeated in three minutes and bring back an icon.”
